Hi, Great forum ladies & gents.
This is a photo' of an L129 I bought a couple of months ago. ( I bought 2 but can't see the other at the moment ). It's about 2" so still young I suppose.
Can it be sexed at this young age ? Looking at the roundness I would say it's a female but would you all agree.
I don't see a great deal of them as they hide a lot unfortunately but they are great looking fish.
Regards ........ G

I havn't seen a lot of good info' about how to tell the sexes apart. What tells you that it's a male ?

Agree, a male. Look at the hairy pectoral fins.

yeah i would say male too based on the noticeable spines on the pectoral fins and the bristly odonotes on the cheeks(although these should grow longer the older the male gets).
I have 1.5" L260 and they hide 100% of the time. i hope these hypans come out more when they get older and larger. like 3"-3.5".

Hi all,

I've never seen mine out during the day. They must come out at night, because they are quite tubby, but I've never seen them during the day, other than in their caves.
cheers Darrel
