Id help!
Anyone that can see what kind of hypancistrus this is? I know its a bad picture, but its the only one i got from the seller.
I think is looks like a l-400 or in that area

The pictures look like 2 different species.

It is the same fish.
The second picture is one of them when they where bought as juveniles.

I would actually lean more towards L-066 but L-400 is also possible. I wish I could see more of the dorsal and pectoral fins to see if the lines were nice and straight to really be more confident.
I am hardly an expert on telling these Hypancistrus apart though.
do you have the collection location?

This is one of my L400s. I would say that your second picture definitely looks to be an L400.

L066 or L400 are good bets
