I wonder is there any A.327, S.L344, A.L352, Ancistrus sp. "Portell" or Ancistrus sp. "SaoFlex" species in the hobby?
Is there any real keeper or breed of any of these specis?

L352 is rumored to surface very occasionally in Germany. L327 is sometimes listed but often turns out to be something else. Ancistrus Claro is the only small ancistrus I know that is available, there's at least one small scale commercial breeder somewhere in Germany. There's a Russian who has bred them and published some videos on youtube.

If you know her and maybe if you've bred them yourself I would REALLY appreciate tips to get the fry to eat. Mine breed but the little ones won't eat anything but the algae in the tank.

I am glad to say that I got my hands on a "Pair" of L352s Recently. They were mistakenly identified as LDA008 Ancistrus Claro A.K.A. Gold Marble Plecos. The L352s has "Gold Spots" instead of the worm-like pattern in the Claros. The ID was confirmed by Barbie. I met her at a local meeting here in Seattle Wa. she was our guest speaker (great speaker!). I'm still debating if I should trade her my L352 for some Claros. I have 4 Claros 1 male and 3 males. and a "Pair" of L352s.

Hi jettej,

Congratulations on the find. I can't advise you on what's "best" to do in your situation, as I've been there before too with another fish and I didn't know what to do either (in the end, I kept the oddballs and I'm glad I did, but I don't know if it was wise in terms of tank space).

About your fish, I see that we don't have any photos of . Would you mind taking several and sending them to us for the website's Cat-eLog page?

Cheers, Eric

Eric I have 5 of the L352, I just have to get in and get pictures of them. They came in as contaminants of the LDA08 shipment and I have been attempting to collect enough to get them spawning. I do have two gravid females already, so should have spawns available by the catfish convention, maybe.

The only other smaller species of Ancistrus that I'm familiar with are the A. sp. "Rio Tocantins" that I currently have. They were imported as L89, but weren't.

Barbie, thanks for the background. If you can't upload photos, I can, so whomever (jettej or Barbie) snaps pictures of these little ones, just send them in and I'll put them online. No rush. :-)

Cheers, Eric
