marble sailfin pleco same as sailfin(gibbiceps) ?

Post by pherfect »

Hello everyone, I'm new to the site and have never kept plecos. I've have a 60 gallon now going on 4 months and am ready for a pleco. My sister, who lives out of state turned me on to marble sailfin plecos because they don't get so large, and are good algae eaters. Well, after extensive net research and little results I'm beginning to wonder if the marble sailfin isn't a regular spotted sailfin, which does grow large. Also, are gibbiceps daytime or nighttime plecs?
Hope anyone can answer my questions. Thanks, Chris

Yup, the marble sailfin is another name for the spotted sailfin. In any case, all sailfin plecos grow large.

Ok, got that question out of the way. So my next question is are they active during the night or day? -Chris
