L 260 beat up

I know that the males chew on the females sometimes when they're breeding but at what point do you take her out of the tank to heal? I've never seen this female in a cave yet so I'm assuming she only has short visits during the night. Both flanks are greyish white and her tail is chewed off in the middle.

I had a female killed a few months ago, so I don't know if I just have a really rough male or if he's just learning how to treat the ladies? Should I try and check on them in the middle of the night so I can find out which male is doing the damage and take him out? There's 6 in the tank- 2m 4f or 3&3 I believe.

Thanks for reading

Sometimes we do have "lady-killers" in our tanks. I ususally identify which one and separate him and let another male try his luck. Some try to keep the aggressive males in the tank until he "learns the ropes" but I find it too costly, especially if he's already killed a female or two. Good luck.

So the males actually grow out of this?

They may grow out of it, but the less dominant fish will usually never kill the females in the first place. I would just remove the one doing it, if they were mine.
