Hi im new to the fourm and i am making a pond for my catfish and i know they can survive through winter (i live in canada and i took them out of a lake since they were an inch long) by goin to the bottom of the lake so can anyone give suggestions to how deep my pond should be?

The pond needs to be at least 24" deep. You might also want to keep an area of the pond ice-free to allow for gaseous exchange.
PS. Please put a proper location in your profile.

24" still seems a bit shallow to me. My old pond here in Illnois, right near Chicago, was right around 2' and it froze nearly solid. I dug my new one to just about 4' to be safe.

The deeper the better, but i normally advise 3 feet if you can get it.

I have read that 3-3.5 feet is a good minimum for areas where you will get ice over the winter.
