Probably neither. May be gravid (heavy with eggs), but probably just "getting a lot of food".

He/she loves to munch all the algae wafers I put in, thinking of putting into sick tank to control food and to keep an eye on. What would you say a good daily diet would be? X

Pregnancy implies fertilised young are developing which is not the case with synos as they lay eggs & have external fertilisation. It does not particularly look fat for a syno either from being gravid or excessive overeating.

As varied a diet as possible is preferential for riverine synos, so algae wafers, flakes, tablets, frozen live foods, earthworms, gel foods (like tetra delica) are all fine, just vary as often as you can.

Perhaps you just need to cut down the volume of what is fed or introduce a weekly starve day

Its hard to say exactly what's going on. keep a close eye on the fish and adjust feeding habbits - lets rule out over feeding. feed every other day with small amounts, meanwhile looking out for breeding behaviours (increased activity...)
