Do they enjoy company, school, or just put up with each other without complaint?

I recently reentered the world of catfish (cichlids of course and picked up a quartet of Raphaels. They're swimming along in a 20 long for now* and I can't decide if they school a bit or are just occupying the same space. They're acting quite a bit like cories, which should be kept in a group but have never schooled for me like some tetras have.

* Yes, I have larger tanks.

Some species of doradids definitely need to be in groups.

In my experience platydoras are not one of them however you will get more interesting behaviour & individual interactions if you do.

To see corys shoal it's best to have a really large tank with 20+ individuals.

My group of 6 (formerly cories (trilineatus) shoal fairly well, but perhaps not as well as a much larger group.

In my limited observation it seems the spotted raphael (agamyxis pectifrons) prefers to be huddled together/swim together more than the striped raphael, which you picked up.
