"Carachama Amarilla"

This fish was taken from a tank with Aphanotorulus frankei, and peckoltia. The supplier gets his fish from Peru. I'm not sure if "carachama amarilla" referred to the frankei, this fish was the last remaining piece of its kind in the container.

The mouth is spoon shaped, like a panaque.

Any ideas?

L229. The golden (or yellow) triangle between the eyes to the tip of the snout is characteristic of this Peruvian Hypostomus. I have kept these guys and they are real veggie lovers.

Probably around 200mm SL. That said, I have not seen one that big, it's just a guess based on other similar species.

Hi!

By the way Amarilla means Yellow...
Isn't that species place into the Hypostomus cochliodon group... I can't really see correctly the tooth but look like those wood eating type?!
Cheers
