I have a few questions about Pygmy Cories. Firstly, I've heard they are mid-water swimmers more than bottom dwellers and I was wondering if, in addition to that, Pygmy Cories would be out in the open more. My Pandas seem to mostly stay under cover during the day and mostly come out during the evenings. Would Pygmy Cories do the same, or would they be out in the open more? Also, do they actively school more, in larger groups, or do they kind've just do buddy shoaling like the Pandas and other larger Cories seem to? I'm just trying to get an idea of what it would be like to watch them in the aquarium.

i have 7 pygmies and i love them, but my tank has a lot of plants and they do seem to hide a lot more than i would like. mine are more mid-to-bottom level, and they do swim around at feeding time, but most of the time are resting in the plants.

I've got only 3. Two of them "school" together all the time, the other one stays on his own mostly. They did the same when I moved them to another tank temporary, strange really. I know they need more numbers but I can't buy them anywhere here.
Regardless, they used to be very active all around the place and staying right at the front glass if resting, until I changed all the layout due to swapping the substrate for sand and now they are mostly hiding , hopefully only until they get used of it again...
But yes, when they feel comfy they are mostly in the upper levels of the tank picking something from the plants constantly and then join together from time to time to "play"
