Synodontis lucipinnis: pH and GH (Hardness)

I have bought 4 Synodontis lucipinnis to my aquarium about half year ago. My Synodontis have grew well and they have been halthy, not ill/sick. In my aquarium is ph 7 and hardness is 4. When I asked seller, she said that ph 7 and GH 4 (dh, hardness) is okay. Many hobbyist say that this water is too soft and acid to Synodontis lucipinnis and I must put them to tanganyiga aquarium.

Have you experiences from Synodontis lucipinnis in soft and neutral water?

pH of 7 is fine for lucipinnis. They are quite intolerant of nitrates in the water. Tanganyikan tanks are ideal but they will still do fine in neutral tanks

And hardness? Is soft water ok also? Nitrates I have very little, because I change water very often.

In the Lake is a pH of 8 to 9 and a hardness (KH)of 14 to 16 quit normal.
I've kept my two groups at ph=8.5 and KH=14 in good health.

Hardness is GH not KH. Kh is puffer not hardness. But what is hardness, GH?

General hardness I mean.

Now my lucipinnis have spawned and I have get babies.:). My lucipinnis spawn almost every day.

I had first 4 lucipinnis. They was quite fearful. I got 2 lucis more and they become more courageous. After that I bought 2 lucis more. Now I have 9 lucis. Then become wild spawning.

I put them to own tank 126 liter. There is also guppies. So my tank is little bit special.

My water parameters are: Ph 7.5-8, GH 6, kh 3, 27 Celsius. I thought that my guppies like same parameter, so I put them together.

Here is shot video about my lucipinnis.

Out of curiosity, did you add the guppies before or after the S. lucipinnis started breeding?

I put guppies before Synodontis lucipinnis started breeding. I see that my guppies smell spawning and they go around spawning place. My guppies are also very fat and healthy.
