Panaque mouth hair
Does anyone know what the hair on Panaque mouth and wing are fore? is it toxic or a kind of weapon.
What is the correct way to hold a panaque? I have seen different ways of doing it.

The odontodes are thought to be used for both defense and in intraspecific interactions. See page 297 of this.

Hair in the mouth? Not sure what you're talking about.
But the cheek odontodes, as HH notes, are used as a bit of a weapon. In some species I imagine they are used for display as well. They are not venomous.
