this is one of my favourite non-mochokids.

There are no reported accounts of breeding these - probably due to a couple of factors: availability of individual specimens (mostly historically) & suitability of set up for them.

When i've had these in the past they've been pretty much problem free. they were not fussy when it came to feeding so anything with a reasonably large particle size is ok. They really relished earthworms but a little surprisingly weren't overly keen on mussels, cockles or prawns although they did consume them if very hungry. As an 'intermediate' sized "pim" (although they are actually a heptapterid) they do well when not fed every day & i used to invoke 2 starve days a week. They did seem a little susceptible to nitrate build up (not surprisingly).

If you have a 125 available, i would furnish with some large, smooth river pebbles/boulders, a sandy or fine gravel substrate, & a number of large, long tree braches close to the bottom (although not neccessarily directly on the bottom). Oak or beech branches would work well but shop bought driftwood/boogwood would also work. Plants at your discretion.

I almost feel a CotM article coming on......

Yes PLEASE! I've got L452 from Ingo for the next one but I'd dearly like to catch up for Novemeber as I am one month behind...

@Jools - i've got half a dozen semi written CotMs, i'll pull a couple together asap, at least by Monday.

I'm due for further surgery soon-ish so will have plenty of time to finish all the rest and some new ones along with a couple of other articles as a possibility
