Hello from Long Island, NY

Hello everyone. My name is Frank M. Greco, and I'm new to this forum, although I am familiar with PlanetCatfish. I'm from Long Island, NY., and have been in the aquarium hobby/industry for over 40 years. I have kept a wide variety of fishes and invertebrates, and am always on the look-out for something unusual. Currently, I run Frank's Aquarium, as well as working full time at a public aquarium.

Welcome. I heard rumors that there were still fish out your way :-!
There is a lot of knowledge here and I learn more every day.

Welcome! Excellent! Sounds like you are bringing valuable assets to the table, Frank. Good to have you here. What's Frank's Aquarium? Which P.A. do you work at and what do you do there?

Very few. Lots of balloon/painted/tattooed/hybrid monstrosity fish, but very little in the way of real fish. Sad, really.

It's a small internet business I own that sells fishes and inverts you might now see in your LFS. I'll post some of my catfish in the For Sale section.
Which P.A. do you work at and what do you do there?
I work at the NY Aquarium in Coney Island. I'm a Senior Aquarist, and I work in Conservation Hall (the first building you enter). Basically, I clean the algae from the glass, feed the fish, clean the filters, aggravate my boss. Normal stuff.

Frank,
Great to see you here! :d
I can say to the other PC members that I have made several purchases of
Whiptails and rarer Corydoras from Frank and all have always been excellent
and very healthy. :-BD

Welcome, Frank. I'm quite familiar with the Brooklyn Aquarium, although it's been several years since my last visit. Do they still have the Scleropages formosus? My friends had donated, among other things, a sea turtle to the Brooklyn Aquarium ~12 years ago. I assume it is still alive and doing well.

Things have changed a lot since you were there. The main hall has gotten a total revamp, and we're just starting on our new Ocean Wonders project, which is giving us a very large shark tank with a walk-thru tunnel.

No, we have Scleropages leichardti right now.

Yep, it's still there.

Sweet. I guess I'll have to take my family for a visit soon. I'll ask for you when we go... who knows... maybe we'll drop in when you are there.

I'm there Sunday thru Thursday. But I will not be there next Sunday (Comic Con) and the Sunday/Monday after that (Catfish Convention). If you do decide to come by, be aware that our Aquatheater is closed for renovation, and that we will be moving the sharks off exhibit shortly.
