I have some questions about Ameiurus serracanthus and Ameirus bruneus and Ameirus natalis.

I friend of mine who has a outside pond without filtering (The plants are the filter)is wandering if these fish are demolishing the plants.

Are Ameirus species demiolishing plants ?
Because he has never cleaned up he bottom he's also afraid that rough behaviour to the bottom will blurr up the water because there isn't any mechanical filtering.

I'd wait for someone with more knowledge to weigh in but my understanding is that all bullheads are active, aggressive scavengers, who AFAIK never feed on plants of any kind but may destroy/rough them up while searching for/pursuing food, e.g., crustaceans, worms, insects, etc., that maybe hiding in/among the plants.

What plants does he have? They're root around in them looking for food so more delicate plants might get damaged.

Elodea densa and Ceratophyllum demersum.
