Wow Nolan,

A nice big tank to work with, with all kinds of room left in it, hehe, where do we start!

Lets see, one option would be:

4 Angel fish
6 Praecox rainbows
6 debauwi cats (VERY interesting schooling behavior from these guys, more is better)
4 long fin rosy barbs
5 clown loaches
6 cories (panda or sterbai are my personal favorites)

If you wanted to go with larger fish, you could go with:

4 red hook silver dollars
6 or 7 yellow labidochromis
a colony of 1 male/3 or 4 females lwanda peacocks
5 clown loaches
6 green tiger barbs and/or 6 boesmani rainbows

Both of these mixes are far from biotopes, but would give you a very colorful active tank. The malawi cichlids in the second mix like the pH a bit higher, but you said your water is quite hard, so a few frequent water changes might take care of that for you :) The one's you will find commonly available in stores aren't nearly as picky about their water parameters as wild caught individuals though, IME. Angels have also been spawned for so many generations in alkaline water that they can readily adapt to it now. Your water is very nearly neutral, which gives you quite a bit of flexibility, as long as you slowly acclimate your new fish into it, that is :)

thanks for the advice i think i might go for the labidocromis as they are colourful and i have never kept african cichlids before so it would make a nice change from central and south americans.
