I remember when mine used to be that small and cute, but now they are just getting bigger and grumpier, a bit like teenager children

Thanks, they're not huge, probably 5-9cm. There are a few sterbai corys in some of the pics which should give you an idea, although they are good sized sterbai!!

How many do you have? Tank size? I'm hoping they will be alright in this tank for a while, but once we're settled again I'll be planning something ~1200-1600 litres (with a big wide footprint) for them and a whole bunch of other SA fish. If we don't build that could be as soon as a couple of months if we find the right house, but if we do decide to build a house it could be 12 months away. There's plenty of wood in the tank, hopefully enough hiding spots for everyong...

Haha...I totally focused on the cichlids (geos I think?) and missed the sterbai, but based on the geos I had assumed they were 10 cm or so. I had one that size, but unfortunately, it didn't make it past quarantine. I'm hoping to get a few replacements in the future.

Hi David R, I have 4 of them. They range from approximately 5" to 6.5" TL and are in a standard Rio400 (400l) tank but I've added an extra external Fluval 405 filter and 2 further internals to make 4 filters/powerheads in total. More details can be found in my earlier posts here -

Hey David
What sand is that you have in there?
Goldies are looking good.
Did the colour change much once they were on a light coloured sand?

James it is Cemix Builders sand from Bunnings, about $7 for 25kg. It looks a little more yellowish [natural] than in the pics where it looks more black and white. Same stuff I had in my big tank. I think their colour is a bit better now than when they were on the pure white stuff, certainly a little darker and more bold.
