Hi All,

I am an Italian aquarium fan based in Kampala at present time; I am not a catfish specialist but I like to breed Synodontis sp. and all fish captured by myself. Basically I am a killyfan :)
I have been subscribing to PlanetCatfish after reading the nice Shane's reportages; I sent a PM to him asking if he knows aquarium fan in Kampala here, but no reply yet (maybe he does not see the message).
Now I am writing over here to shortly introduce myself and to ask if someone knows aquarium fan based in Kampala, I should like to meet someone to talk "live" about aquarium and to go fishing together :-H

Welcome aboard...that is such a great opportunity for you to collect some fish for yourself. I have some of the killies collected by Shane and Jools in Uganda, nice little fish.

I am sure you will be hearing from Shane on this topic, just have patience...and hopefully your internet stays good :d

Bourbon,
I have been in and out of town a lot for work lately, so am very behind in answering e-mails and private messages.
Welcome to PC and I can't wait to read about your fish adventures in Uganda.

Hi All,

Yes, I am hoping to go around as soon as possible, is rain season over here now.
I have been in West Africa and Southern Africa before and writing something on Italian magazines and bulletins, due the language barrier you can't enjoy it but I have been putting a video on my YouTube channel describing a killy capture session in Okavango Delta; it is Italian language and low quality, but you can see something.

Cheers :-H

and two traps coming from Coca-cola bottles.
Yours in the video is interesting, I could be make one. I want see which result coming out the first time I will be able to go fishing.
Thinking to go in Mpigi area, is not far away and is a nice place, already I know it: possible to meet the Shoebill over there

Fish traps from coke bottles ? I would like to see a picture of one of them or a diagram on how they are designed.

Easy described

1 you take a bottle, and put it upright
2 you cut the top from the bottle ~ at the biggest part
3 you put some bait into the bottle, anf ill it with water
4 put the top back, but upside down, to close the bottle

a fish might be attracted by the bait, and swim in. Finding the way out is the hard part, and most likely this will not happen

Currently I'm using this technique to catch ~80 Hypsophrys nematopa cichlids in a tank. I'm close to halfway - but I will not get past 90 %, I'm afrais.

Still, quite acceptable, after all it is a large tank, 4 meters, or more than 13 feet, long, and I would hate to empty it

Hi Sekhar,

Only today (January 5,2013) I see your kind message, I left Uganda exactly on December 22,2012. Am at home now (Botswana).

Best Regards
