Agamyxis missing pelvic fins?

Hi.
I recently bought three Agamyxis pectinifrons at separate occasions. I first bought 2 small ones (ca 6cm) together and i noticed that one of them had both pelvic fins while the other had only one. No stump or anything, just smooth skin where the missing pelvic fin should be.

A few hours ago, i bought another Agamyxis, this one is much larger, (ca 13cm) and it has NO pelvic fins whatsoever, only smooth skin where they should be.

I'm guessing this is a birth defect, and i'm wondering if this is particularly common with this species, or Doradids in general? Have you seen this with your catfish too?

Personally, I never saw such a Doradid

This morning I found the large one (missing both pelvic fins) and one of the smaller ones (the one with both fins) cuddling in the corner of my tank. So I took some quick photos of them.

incredible

oddly enough, the fish does not look like it is misformed. In fact it is good you had a fish with pelvic fins on the pic as well

I've seen barbs with missing pelvic fins. I think it's a fairly "common" abnormality.

Interestingly a lot of snakehead species are missing pelvics. It might be a relatively common trait that gets fixed either by accident, or selected for for some reason.
