Hi guys,

I purchased this pleco today on the knowledge that it was a L288.... Obviously the shop can never be 100% sure so if anyone can confirm this it would be greatly appreciated...

He is the only plec in my tank currently, with some tetras, cories and 2 dwarf gouramis.

Many thanks...

This looks a lot like my l015s but there's nothing to say mine are not l288.

At least I know it's one of the two!! :d

Does anyone know how these guys get on with khuli loaches? None in the tank currently but I do like the look of them!

I'll need to get some pics up, but I am keeping a group that were sold to me as L 288 and they look just like your fish above. That said, I have never been comfortable saying that they matched what we have in the cat-elog as . I'll need to take a look at the original DATZ pics for comparison as we do not have them on the site.

Hi Guys,

Very quick one - i have the opportunity to purchase either an LDA25 pitbull plec or a Mega clown plec (my preferred choice)...

Would either of these go okay with my current L288 / L015?

There are no other bottom dwellers at the moment...

Many thanks...

How big is the tank? What else is in the tank?

Assuming there is tank capacity and enough space on the bottom, I don't see why there would be a problem combining either of those fish.

According to the Cat-eLog, probably would like to have a bit warmer water than the ideal for the two other fish, so it would depend on what temperature you keep your tank at.

Hi Mats,

The tank is 125 litres - so not massive, but i have a couple of caves and a few pieces of wood for shelter.

If its not going to be big enough i'd rather leave it, although i know the pitbull's in particular are a very small pleco.

Many thanks.

That should be large enough for about 3-4 medium sized plecos. However, you may get "more fun" out of your plecos if you keep multiple ones of the same kind, rather than one of each of several types...

do you think i should go for 2-3 pitbulls or the one mega clown?

Cheers :)

These were imported as L288, although the specimen in the photo had lost some colour http://www.scotcat.com/thedarkone/loric ... a_l288.jpg

As the P.Jumbo (LDA025) are small you could put half a dozen in, which would be a really nice little group.

I agree with this. More is better.

And I still think getting "more of the same", rather than one of each is a good idea. So if you can get another one or two of the L288 (or whatever it is - it's certainly in the P. vittata group, but it's hard to say which variant it is without capture location), and 6 of the LDA25.

(The above assumes there aren't too many "swimmy fish" in the tank, of course)
