L002 diet

Hi all,

I just received my wild caught L002 and they are looking really thin (not a surprise). Anyone have a suggestion for supplementing the wood in the tank? I have put in some carrots, shrimp pellets and hikari algae wafers already.

Any favorite homemade recipes for panaque?

I am off to the grocery store tomorrow and I guess I need some more veggies in the the refrigerator.

Thank you for your time,

Jesse

Their main diet is and should be wood. They will eat vegetarian food as well, and tiny amounts of meaty food. Check out the article I wrote on the subject (to the right of this post).

Thank you for the reply Mats.

I have three different types of wood in the tank and it's pretty full.
I read over the articles and also searched the site for other threads, both of which are helpful. I know that they mainly process wood. I was just wondering what others are feeding, specifically which veggies and rare meaty treats, as well as any homemade recipes for the smaller panaque's.

I've never tried it, but remember a thread a couple years ago about them having an affinity for palm hearts. At least I think that's what it was being called. I've always wanted to try it, but was past the Panque stage before the thread was posted. The thread is:

Hope that helps at least a bit.

How are your panaque doing? I had one of my chubby plecos come in extremely thin and died the first night. Everyone else was active last night. Hope you can get them eating.

I have had my colony for just over a year. Got them just over a inch long, I have 2 pieces of softer driftwood, the darker stuff not mopani wood. Got from plecocaves, along with 3 of their caves.I also put some cholla cactus in and that disappeared with in a few months. I feed algae wafers, shrimp pellets alternating every other day, and oncea a week I feed frozen bloodworms and brine shrimp. I do 30% water changes every 5 days for about 3 or 4o weeks and then let the water degrade to drop pH while only removing the excess shredded wood on the bottom.

Hey Jesse,
when they are really thin, just try to feed them with more powerfull food, like Sera Planktontabs (i don't know the english name of this) it works really good...

Cheers Andi
