Hello,
this fish was caught just above Ndole Bay in river mouth (not withing the Lake Tanganyika). Leucistic alluaudi maybe?
Photos by ACA ltd. (African Cichlids Aquaculture).
Better photos when yellow submarine arrive to Poland

your collection's getting beyond impressive, Worton, you lucky bum
these are very hard to determine, but the pic is good cause it shows the skull plate on top
the trickiest thing is getting the right literature. apart from Seegers, there's not a good book on African catfish, let alone non-Mochokidae.
and Seegers isn't up to this level either.

The only problem with the overhead shot (which is good) is that even the Teugels revision does not give anything to compare with even though it could make a difference.
These are hard enough in normal coloration let alone Xanthic.
I also looked in the Rukwa book.
Liocephalus in the Rukwa book shows a dark margin on the dorsal, anal and caudal, also the dorsal and anal fin shapes may be closer.
So hard...

The only way you can reliably identify African Clarias is to match fin-ray to gill-raker counts. The former you can easily do, the latter you can't from a photograph of the whole fish.
It's usually a foregone conclusion.
