Somebody from another forum doesnt know which Peckoltia this would be?

Err, L140 isn't P. brevis I don't think and certainly doesn't have a spotted muzzle. I would go for L205, but there are a lots of rivers in South America with very similar fish to this in them.

my mistake just when you think you can do without checking the catelog.
I notice now that L140 isn't even listed, however aqualog has it down as P.brevis (vittata).

Aye, it's one of those dodgy out-of-water shots taken, by the looks of it, at the side of the Rio Tapajos.

Yes - you're right - it does look the same.
But did Aqualoq use the right picture?

Hi,
don´t take the old Aqualog as reference.
There will be a new Aqualog hopefully till Christmas (not the Aqualog "The Latest L Numbers", which you can buy already), with all L Numbers from L 1 to L 342 and LDA 1 to LDA 76 and, as Frank Schäfer told, with not so many faults ;)
Also German Datz plans a new bokl or Special Editon of the Magazin "15 Jahre L Nummern" with all original pictures (Ingo Seidel, André Werner, ...).
Maybe confusion will end then ... :)

Hi!

I don't know about L140 ( have not that issue of datz with me)
Regarding L205, the fish pictured here has those black marks that L205 lacks so it shall rule it out...
I will vote for Peckoltia cf brevis
Cheers

Hi Jools!

I was talking about those "stripes" on the head and body!
Present here on the fish shown by Chris, absent from L205!
Cheers

Looks like brevis but could also be peckoltia sp.(1) on scotcat.
brevis seems to be more spotted on the head and lacks the facial stripes.

Hi!

Here is a picture of a juvenil L205. Picture of Andre Werner of Transfish:

There are some differences in the pattern which could be because of the age of the fish... still the differences are enough to make me doubt about that L205 id.
