the chances of buying 6 catfish randomly and getting all males purely by chance are astronomically small
looks like you've been had.....

Damn. And I'm sure females are near impossible to find.
I got 3 from PetZoneSanDiego and three from a local guy who was getting rid of his. He said there was at least one female, but I guess not!

This of course assumes there is a 50:50 mix of males and females in the first place. And I'm not sure if 97% chance of this NOT happening is "astronomically small chance". But it's rather unlikely.
Assuming there is actually 50:50 mix of males and females, with 2 fish, it's 50% chance that there is one of each sex. 3 = 75%, 4 = 87.5%, 5=93.7%, 6=96.9%.
I took my kids and some other young relatives to a show at an agricultural/nature college a few years back, and there was a lottery thing where you bought tickets, with the big headline of "all even numbers win". Collectively, we bought some 10 or so tickets, and none of us won a single thing. Now the chances of that, assuming the tickets are an equal mix of odd and even numbers is nearly astronomical, 1 in 512 (or 0.02% chance). I'm pretty certain the tickets were not evenly distributed, but there was A WHOLE LOT more odd numbers than even numbers...

I just think the sellers knew all to well what they're were selling...
it's too coincidental
