I saw before, that one of the males produces pigment free fry. They are not albino's because they haven't got red eyes.
I never thought one had survived because they always seem to die after the first week of life. But today during maint. I suddenly saw one hovering on the bottom of the tank

looks like you keep several species of Hypancistrus together in one tank. Not afraid of hybrids? I´d never set two or more species together.

I don't ever put more than 1 species together in a breeding tank
The tank has a glass panel in between. You can see the L46 on the other side of it.

Hi,
keep this small fish well. One out of 100 shows a very different pattern. This one is Hypancistrus sp. "Lower Xingu" 40mm and with a totally strange pattern. This fellow was nearly white in his first month. But the pattern in not the only difference - this fish is growing very slow (perhaps this pattern is a sign for a damage).

Wow, congratulations! With each conception is a roll of the dice, keep doing what you're doing and don't let the male producing those fry or the fry themselves go! You might very well have just discovered a new variant of the L400!

I have sold the breeding group. they are leaving tomorrow. They produce an enormous amount of fry and I can't get rid of them...
Than there is the fact that the scribbled Hypancistrus are getting on my nerve..... No one seems to know what's what anymore. There are hybrids all over the place and each is getting it's own exotic name or number. I've given up all scribbled Hypans for the time being....

I will however keep the white fry of the L400. I know the person that has bought my breeding group well. Maybe I can buy some more of him if he get's them too. But for the time being I'm going to concentrate on the other beautiful Hypans I've got here
