Out and about, meeting Longstocking
Drove up to House of Tropicals in Glen Burnie, MD today to check out the stock.

I have been very disappointed with the availability of interesting fishes to keep since my return to the States, but finally had a bit of luck today.
A nice woman in the store offered to help me, and as soon as she started talking about L Numbers and odontodes I knew she had to be a fellow catfish nut. Turned out she was none other than PC's own Longstocking! Small world.
Anyway, between lots of cat chat, we bagged up four (2 pair), a single (I got lucky, this is the first smaller Mystus sp I have seen since returning, it was a trade in from an aquarist) and a pair of large (6" plus SL) . I also picked up a school of "micro" Rasbora that I have yet to identify.
All in all a good fish day, and even better to run into a forum member.

It was cool to meet and hang out a while Shane! Let me know if you want those blue lips. Obviously I couldn't really discuss it in the store
Here is the CCA forum... you can pm Fanny
Mscichlid is her screen name. Minifoot is the guy with P. typus in our area ... also on that forum.

Shane if you want P. typus I've got a couple pairs going to waste in my basement right now. Let me know! I'm glad Sarah was good to you ;). She used to be a hard core Tanganyikan nut but somehow rooming with Julie and I at conventions rubbed off on her, I think!

Boraras are fun to keep indeed! I've kept merah, maculatus and brigittae, the latter being the most beautiful by far.
keep em warm, 26 degrees Celsius is best, when temp drops they are sensitive to ich... very inquisitive little fish that like to 'bite' your hand when doing water changes

Re: Out and about, meeting Longstocking
Yes, they like it on the warm side. I am keeping B. maculatus, and the temp hit 32C due to a faulty heater and they were fine.
I also keep them in pure RO water, being mostly blackwater species, as you know.
Great fish. They love microworms. Combine well with Pangio.
