Possible "Fish" Representative

Ok, now I do not know if the title will reflect what I am looking for. On some other forums I am on, we have the option to assign a fish as to what we are, or our favorite, or one we work with the most. I was undering if under our avatar and by post counts and stuff if it would be possible to add a place were you can assign yourself, as your favorite fish. Like right now I have a hard time picking between my cats, but I would think it would be neat to say something like " Chaetostoma Junkie" .. or for Marc, " Woodcat Nut", things like that.
It is not important, just thought it might be fun and so we can show our true colors lol..

Hmmm, that area of the page is a bit cluttered already. Its also something that "my cats" ought to tell you. Something that came to mind was having some sort of summary of your my cats data. Otherwise I think it might play against my cats, which I am keen to avoid.

I _THINK_ the suggestion would be to replace (alter) the content where it says "Forum Mega Poster" etc, not to add any more information to that area.
I've seen other forums where you can edit your "title". Only problem is if you have "less mature" members that use childish content.

Nate
Can you give an example or two of the other forums you mention?

A discussion about this sort of subject, including some examples of it being used (e.g. Michael Cox having "Wildlife Photographer", gparr having "Does shooting RAW hurt?").

There is that, but we haven't had a huge problem with signatures, right?

Custom user title or personal moniker appear to be the terms used. I'm split on this personally.
Half of me thinks it's a good idea to make the forum friendlier, half of me thinks it's extraneous faff. Maybe have a vote?

I'd say if people would really want a custom user title, let them use the signature space.
Imho the part of the page under the avatar is already too "crowded".

Custom user titles would not increase the number of lines below the avatar. If crowding is a concern, then maybe some of the things already there should be moved to the user's profile page instead.
I'd say put it to a vote.

Sorry guys, I have been MIA. I would agree a vote would be a good idea, but I do see your concerns with it as well. Just thought that it might be a neat idea, but I see where issues can arise out of immature people.
Mats, thanks for the links in my absense!

Personally, I like the idea, but as suggested above, it should replace the posting title we now have
In that case, we could decide to say 'above 250 postings you qualify for a personal title' just to give a number.
