Feeding corys vegetables

Currently, my habrosus and pygmies get a varied diet consisting of frozen bloodworms, algae wafers, Hikari sinking pellets, and New Life Spectrum/Hikari micro wafers. However, since I want to spoil them silly I would like to start feeding them vegetables. I have read that they like cucumbers and peas. Anyone ever have experience feeding their corys vegetables? What kind and how do you prepare them? :-BD

Corys do not need much vegetable matter in their diet. Feeding the occasional algae wafer is fine, more than that is not necessary. If you want to spoil your corys try feeding live Blackworms if they are available to you.

I've found that the cories i've had didn't really bother with the cucumber that I put in the tank for my BN cats. I have read that peas split out of their shells are suposed to be to cories liking but i've never tried it yet

I'm also very curious about this subject :YMDAYDREAM: ! I was walking threw my local bookstore and picked up a fish aquarium book, flipped to the Cory's section and read that they do in fact enjoy eating vegetables.
What I did for my Corys (since I also like to spoil them silly :ymblushing: ) is I took some thin slices of the tree part of a broccoli and put them into the corner of my aquarium that I most often see my Cory's hanging out, I then shut off all the lights and left them alone so that they could find the food on their own. I looked back the next day and it seemed there was still a few pieces floating around, I did the same as the day before and left them alone. Third day I noticed they were all gone. I'm not entirely sure if they ate them or if the little pieces got broken down by the water and disappeared, but it certainly didn't seem to harm my fish, but who knows :icon-rolleyes: !
I would love to know more on this topic!

Cory's in their natural habitat do eat some detritus which is a mix of broken down vegetable matter but primarily their diet is a variety of insect larvae.
