recently i suffered a burst 8x3x2' tank which split its base due to poor instalation. The tank was built onsite so there is no option to remove or repair the tank in situ.

I am now looking at striping the tank down and rebuilding a concrete block tank with a glass viewing pane using the existing 12mm glass.

Iv looked at G4 pond paint as a sealer but wasnt sure iv fish like panaques could graze and remove this.

Just one solution im looking at so any opinions welcome

Your problem does raise some questions

Is the burst tank made of glass or not? Is the burst the result of a badly made tank or is the tank badly placed?

I can imagine, if the tank itself was OK, and the problems are solvable, I would just take a piece of glass an glue it over the burst

watertight, obviously, and never mind the burst. Actually, in 1986 I did such a thing with a 130 * 50 * 50 cm - that is just over 4 feet * 20 inches * 20 inches - tank. It still contains fish, and is now my oldest tank

it is an all glass tank which sat on a base made from concrete blocks, the was a 80cm gap between these pillars, the tank then sat on 25mm poly and 10/12mm ply.
The tanki think should have been built on thicker ply and poly and should also have been a double glass base.

If i could repair the tank in situ that would b ideal but the cause of the break isnt easy fixed as i cant lift the tank to rectify it which is why im looking at strip down and rebuild options
