Animal Planet is running:

Tanked
http://animal.discovery.com/tv/tanked/

Following the antics of two brothers-in-law as they run the largest aquarium manufacturing company in the nation, Tanked dunks viewers into the high-decibel, family-owned business of Acrylic Tank Manufacturing (ATM). Learn more about this new show, premiering Friday, August 19, at 9 PM

I have not seen it yet.

Hillbilly Handfishin'
http://animal.discovery.com/tv/hillbilly-handfishin/

Led by Oklahoma hand-fishermen and self-proclaimed hillbillies Skipper Bivins and Trent Jackson, get a taste of the redneck lifestyle by going through the paces of noodling catfish in Hillbilly Handfishin'. Think you're cut out for Noodling?

This show is awesome! I stayed up until 1 am watching it last night. This has to be Jools and my next outing.

Sadly, they are not booking trips right now.

Oh dear. Is this serious? On paper, it sounds like literally the worst show on TV.

Ice truckers, lumberjacks, Arctic crab fishermen, bounty hunters, tattooists, automobile renovators, acrylic fish tank manufacturers ... I dread to think what's next. Insurance salesmen?

What was it like?

The noodling one sounds great though.

lol Agreed. I have not seen it yet, but if they dedicate even a small part of the show to demonstrating actual tank design and manufacturing concepts it will be worth watching a few episodes.

Hillbilly Handfishin' had the highest ever viewer numbers for an Animal Planet premier episode. What is so great about it are the guests they teach to noodle. A hair dresser from New York, a shy teenage girl, a retired rich couple, etc. You could take these same people collecting and get footage just a rich, but I can not imagine keeping as good an attitude about it as the show's hosts do.

I saw one show of tanked so far. part reality show part really cool tank work. They've got skills but they dumb it down with reality tv style humor. Its worth enduring to see what they do.

Just watched the video on Tanked's front page...it was ok, if it was on tv here I would watch it simply because of the subject matter. Australia tends to get the "bottom of the barrel" American reality shows, I guess they're cheaper for the networks to purchase. Not that the Aussie reality shows are any better. I don't really watch tv, apart from the news, documentaries and occasional cartoons :d
