Hello Again:

I was wondering if anybody could give me some names for albinos under 8 ",when they are full grown. Just trying to figure out the sizes for another tank, just for plecs.

On major aquatic auction sites it is common to sell juvenile Bushy nose as Dwarf Plecos. I consider this misrepresentation. There are only a few species which warrant the Dwarf appellation, most well known is perhaps Ancistrus claro. I have never seen an adult breeding male that was more than 2-3/4 inches in total length.

However, compared to 8", Ancistrus spp. are "dwarf" at 5" or so.

Since there are three groups of sizes, dwarves less than 3 inches, mediums sized at 5 inches and large species reaching 8inches, doesn't it make sense to call the few smallest species dwarves? I do not want to to encourage sellers selling young common Bushy Noses juveniles as dwarf Bushy Nose since most can reach five inches.

I agree, a 5" fish is not a dwarf!

I'm just explaining that my answer was referring to the 8" size, not the request for "dwarf", if that makes sense. Clearly, I should have said something like << these are not dwarfs, but they are smaller than 8" >>
