Plecos Going For Air

Post by oldman60 »

Hello:

I have (3) Gold Stripe Plecs( L169) that seem to be going to the top of the aquarium for air. They seem to release bubbles before ascending to the top, for a very quick moment. I have an airstone working, plus a new filter running, with some wood in tank. The only thing different is a 50% water change within the last day. Should I be concered?. They are constantly on the move, even with the light on.

Thanks

A few questions:

You say it has a new filter, but do not mention how long the tank is in operation...established, recently set up?

Size of tank?

Any recent water quality tests?

How long have you had the fish?

Have they only been doing this since the 50% waterchange?

Answers to these questions will help us help you.
