I have read that long nosed / saddle nose Corydoras are aggressive I am just wondering if any one has any experience of this? Are they aggressive towards other normal nosed Cory’s or are they just aggressive towards other long nosed Cory’s . The reason I ask is I am thinking of getting some Septentrionalis, the tank that they would go in has some small Cory’s in it - Pygmy and Similis amongst other things. I do not want to upset the tank if Septentrionalis are going to chase every thing in there site a bully the other fish. But I am sceptical about any kind of Cory’s being aggressive but have never kept any long nosed varieties so I am looking for some advice.

I'm sure a search of the forums will give you examples of behaviour of the long nosed cory species. From what i can recall some males have been known to kill other males (of the same species)when competing for the right to spawn.

I do not think there is aggression between the differing species (you mention)

Saddle nosed corys can be aggressive to each other. You'll find that aggression levels in saddlenoses differ from species to species.

Septentrionalis are very placid, and I house mine with axelrodi without any trouble.

Thanks Coo-ee I have purchased some on your advice. So far so good the seam to be getting on fine and particularly like spending time with my Agassizii and Leucomelas Cory’s obviously because of the similar markings.

I've not witnessed any agression from my fowleri even during spawning. I do see one of the males chase the female weitzmani on occasion though, but nothing serious
