Who is breeding Clarias batrachus?

maybe who breeds Clarias batrachus? My Clarias put eggs on gravel but not in one place but everywhere: on stones, wood, gravel. But all eggs were unfertilizer. Maybe who had succsessful spawing? Write me please .

I do not know the spawning methods for these fish, however do you have any barbs, carp, koi or other Cyprinids in the enclosure with the fish? This sounds allot more like a Cyprinid spawn than a catfish.

Then again there are certainly catfish that spawn as egg-scatterers, even at least one Hypostomine plecostomus. I would have suspected C. batrachus would be a nest-brooder similar to other Clarias spp.

I also have 1 Cichlasoma labiatum and two Liposarcus pardalis. But the eggs were Clarias batrachus because they throw eggs 3 times in 2 years and one of swaping i saw. Male follow female around the tank . Then he swim to her head and bend his body like a ring. Then female thow up a lot of eggs which fall on the gravel , wood and everythere. what do you think about this?

This sounds like the typical Clarias spawning embrace. While it is unusual that no nest was built, some clariids (e.g. Heterobranchus) are known to be egg scatterers. I am not sure whether all Clarias build nests, but what is currently known as C. batrachus is a mix of species.

When my Clarias were spawing last time then male dig a gravel and make a pit in one conner of aquarium. the eggs were throw up not only in this pit but also near the pit on the gravel, wood, stones. Eggs were everythere. but I don't think that it was a nest because eggs were everythere. There are no plants in my aquarium because Clarias diggs gravel very often. What material Clarias use in building a nest? What is debris mean? english is not my native language so I can't write correctly. Sorry.

According to the spawning report by Thakur (1976), Clarias batrachus does not build a nest. The eggs were scattered all over the gravel substrate.

Where do you read this? What is Thakur? I want to read his report too. But if Clarias batrachus don't build nest the male must guard eggs? In your site I read what Clarias batrachus buikd nest from loose debris? What does debris mens? What is it? If you give me your e-mail I can send you photos of my Clarias.

Debris just refer to loose bits of material that lie on the bottom of the stream/pond. Things like leaves, twigs, dead aquatic vegetation, etc.
The full reference for Thakur (1976) is:
Thakur N. K., 1976. On the spawning behavior of Clarias batrachus. Japanese Journal of Ichthyology 23: 178-180.
I am not sure if the males guard the eggs/fry at all, as this is not mentioned by Thakur (although he noted that the males reacted to intrusions during the actual spawning act).
