This is a difficult on as the only member of the Cochliodon group from the same drainage as H. commersoni is H. cochliodon, which your fish clearly is not. I'll keep looking, but hopefully others more familiar with recent imports will have an idea.

Looks close to
?
A photograph of the mouth will confirm if this is a member of the
H. cochliodon group.

I'd call it an undescribed species of Hypostomus. It has perhaps in the past been IDed as H. cochliodon, but I'm with Shane in thinking it's not and probably a species restricted to the basin.

Hi,
it looks to me like Cochliodon (Hypostomus) sp. "Bolivia" also known as sp. "Río Mamoré". I caught this species in a lot of rivers in Bolivia. Staeck reported it from the Río Paraguay and it seems to be widely distributed. But there are a lot of similar looking species in this genus. It doesnt´t look like C. cochliodon or H. commersoni to me.

Could be L050?

L050 is from the region of Tocantins in the Amazon basin. I don't think they would appear in the same shipment as H. commersoni from the Rio La Plata basin.
