C. Aeneus or others?

Post by Brhino »

I have four corydoras in my tank that were sold as bronze corys, but I have noted some differences in appearance and I'm not sure what to make of them.

This one looks like a "normal" bronze cory to me, for whatever that's worth. Two of the four look like this.

This one seems to have "normal" coloration, but it seems far more elongated than the others. I'm aware of the C. melanotaenia aka "Elongate Bronze Cory" but those seem to have a longer snout, plus yellow fins.

This one has a "normal" body shape but yellow tinted fins. A few days ago, I watched the other three chase this one all over the tank, then the next morning I caught her laying eggs on the glass. I was able to move 8 of them to an empty tank and I'm hoping they'll hatch, but given the differences in appearance I'm wondering if I have different species, and if so if that will prevent successful breeding.

Thanks in advance!

followup: The eggs have started to hatch. So, that answers at least part of the question.
