Hi. There are some rare catfish for sale here that are often common species but misidentified. Would be nice if you could post some pictures to prove they are the real deal.

e.g., , , .

I expect the names are "as provided by supplier" rather than "as identified by the shop staff". But I agree, photos would be nice.

Probably, but any store that is able to take a bit of time to ID the fish correctly will certainly get kudos from members of this forum, and maybe encourage some business as a result.

Oh, and add to the above list.

OK thanks, I will do. As Mats said these are names given by the supplier, and so far we've had no reason to doubt them on them, but shall put the pictures up. I'm only in on Saturdays, but will try and get someone from the shop to get some photos and put them up in the week. Thanks for the advice!

Hi all. As requested here are the Otocinclus and Corydoras julii - apologies about the quality as the pictures were taken on a colleagues's phone. I can hopefully get the H. plecostomus and Hypancistrus at the weekend.
The images are in the atatchment - I am still unable to get the images to work in the post.

Thanks,
Harry

The Otocinclus look like macrospilus. Definitely not affinis. This is something exporters do all the time.

I would look at it the other way round entirely: these fishes are supplied by the trade, so there is every reason to doubt them!

Haha! I think your very right. And having been on the other side of the desk before I've seen some nasty ID's. I think that an ID run round the shop tomorrow wouldn't cause any harm.
Apologies to anyone interested in those species.

What you call is really the Calico variant of common (as with the , as these are, I presume captive bred fish).
