Hello all,

Once again, a few doubts..
Caught some tiny plecos on a rice paddy..
They seem all different form each other!
but these two in particular seem to be otocinclus.. but, which species?!
Image
is it really an oto? or just a pleco fry?
and this guy..
Image
I don't know, it seems like an "evil oto"...
another nice thing I got there..
Image
trust me: he is tiny!

I think it's the third picture that is a cory, the second picture is clearly some sort of Loricariidae, quite likely

Thanks for the information, what catches my attention are those small red dots on its tail Image
I thought somehow that would help identifying it!

I ran across those guys during my Otocinclus searchings. I'll have to see if I can find the info I found.

Hi,

first one might ne Hisonotus notatus, but not for sure. The second one seems to be Parotocinclus maculicauda.

The first 2 look like Oto's or Hisonotus, same species. the 3rd looks like S. barbatus. my 2cent guess.

Wow, thanks all!
you know what caught my attention?
most of hisonotus have been already described on my state (Santa Catarina), on their respective "type location" field, although Sta Catarina state isnt quoted on "distribution" field. I alwaus thought they were otocinclus/paraotocinclus..
And for the , my specimen has those same red dots on its tail.. but I don't see the same longitudinal band on those from Cat-elog!
Well, I assume it is really a due to the correct distribution!

Yes, the last one is probably a barbatus..
I know it is the wrong part of the forum to post it, so.. sorry for that!

Thanks all, once again

And that "cf" means I'm not 100% sure of its species?
I hope to go back to that very saame channel this weekend!
The weather is extremly hot, but it should be already starting to cool down..

Yes, cf in this case means that "it may be this, but it could also turn out to be something else".

I'll start using this "cf" everywhere!
even to name myself..

I know you are probably joking, but it should really only be used when you are NOT sure, but fairly certain it is close to the real species. If you don't know what in the world it may be, then "cf. something" is not correct usage.
