require_once warnings and fatal error messages

Mats and I are massively re-organising the site. While this work is all "in the background" it means that, if we miss something, then you will see an error similar to that noted below. If you see this, please do reply to this thread and tell us where in the site you were and what you were doing.
We're trying hard to avoid this happening, but there are literally thousands of combinations of these files and to unravel it all without any problems would take weeks, so we've decided to do it in the more cavalier, "change it fast and fix what breaks" approach. The forum should remain unaffected and no data will be lost.
I will post again as we fix and when (hopefully) we're done with this ugly phase of work.
Cheers,
Jools

Yup, we know it's broken. So is most of the Cat-eLog. We will fix as soon as we can... Unfortunately, neitehr I, nor Jools can work full time on Planet Catfish.
This site is quite complex because the site consists of many different parts, and we either spend the next 8 weeks doing it completely behind the scenes, or we do it quickly, but break things from time to time. In the end, we'll get there quicker, but breaking a few things from time to time...
In the end, it will be a better site... That's a promise...

Working on the species data page at present, will then go to l-numbers and then will have a look at my_aquaria.

OK, no need for thanks guys, this is a total mess and I appreciate you bearing with us. But, trust me, a few days of chaos is better than a few weeks of (apparently) nothing public going on while we did this in a safer way.

It is the page not your computer, there is a lot of behind the scenes work going on with the site right now, we appreciate your patience.

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/search.php
is broken. require_once(../includes/old_functions/clog_functions.php)
Edit: Same problem in:
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/last20.php
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/top100_images.php
http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/top100_species.php
Edit2: That should cover all of the pages with links from the top of the page - I haven't tried all the permutations of links from links from links...
I would fix myself, but I don't want to "collide" with one of your fixes...

Agreed, and I am nearly there with this great purge. It has thrown up surprisingly little duplicate code. Anyway, reckon I should have this complete today.

Good work team.
Also I think your strategy is a good one. This way the stuff everyone uses the most will get a high priority.
Also yesterday about this time I was getting everything on the site in what I can only describe as "plain text", so no html formatting etc. Was odd, but that will teach me to be at the other end of the world
Got a require_once on edit my aquaria, just now:
[phpBB Debug] PHP Notice: in file /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/common/includes/my_aquaria_edit.php on line 11: require_once(../includes/clog_list_select.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../includes/clog_list_select.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear') in /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/common/includes/my_aquaria_edit.php on line 11
Thanks
Geoff

Me too, and was unable to post a bug about it either. Then it was back to normal so assumed you must have been aware.
As above, well done for tackling this, I'd say the site definitely seems faster when accessing pages/images etc.

Since that wasn't really something we set out to achieve, I doubt it's actually any of the current changes that has achieved that...

is it me, or the specie i'm trying to find?

by Grimfilth
I broke the quick picker i think...
Cat-elog:
Know your nomenclature? Use the quick picker (Reset)
:
Family: Siluridae
Genus: Kryptopterus
Click on an image to view that species:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function format_img() in /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/includes/old_functions/clog_display_genus_thumbnails.php on line 65
Entering the advanced search page also results in this;
Warning: require_once(../includes/old_functions/clog_functions.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/catelog/search.php on line 7
Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '../includes/old_functions/clog_functions.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear') in /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/catelog/search.php on line 7
And.......... (yes i'm a real pain in the butt, i know, but i was desperate finding the specie i own)
when i finally reached the page, i got a
Fatal error: Call to undefined function get_scientific_from_id() in /home/webcat/planetcatfish.com/common/my_fish.php on line 152
when adding
Kryptopterus minor to 'my fish'.
I'm using Firefox 3.6.1.6 on Win XP with all the service packs and updates, i hope my comment is useful in some sort of way...
