Hi Ive got this garnet sand, and want to know if it is safe for panda corys and pigmys, its like dust, the sand really size is 110-140 times smaller than the pic
the photos were taken with 110-140x(combining zoon and loupes)
I used to stock and use some garnet sand when I had a fish shop. Garnets and garnet sands are found and processed on an industrial scale in Northern Idaho about 130 miles from where I live. They also find gem quality garnets. Garnet is the state rock of Idaho.
It is about the same as quartz and black "moon" sand as far as particle shapes and sharpness but garnet is harder and much denser than quartz and black sand. I don't remember having any problems with Corydoras kept on garnet sand but it is so dense and fine that plants did not thrive in it.
