It looks like the L288 Peckoltia sp. i purchased yesterday. They are a little bit like the vittata but are deeper orange and the stripes are more zig zag style. I have seen them around more frequently recently. Its common names are orange/red tiger pleco or big banded tiger pleco. Their relaxed colours are amazingly bright
Here is a picture of the L288 I bought yesterday to compare

There are about half a dozen different Peckoltia that are pretty similar to
, e.g.
,
,
. They can be quite hard to tell apart if you don't know where they are from. I believe the scientists classify all/most of them as
P. vittata (from a recent revision of the Peckoltia genus by Armbruster et.al.) - I'm not sure I agree, but I'm not paid money to write about fish [I wish I was!]

I'd say he agrees that P. vittata currently includes a complex of species. Here's a quote from Armbruster's Peckoltia revision: "It is likely that P. vittata as described above represents more than one species."

Thanks all,
The fish is from my large tank, i have a heap of these fry. I have 202's 134's and 397's in that tank. So obviously it would be a 202, unless i was sold something else as a 202.
Thanks again.

If you already know what it is, why did you ask? I might be helpful to mention these things at the beginning!
Fish are incorrectly labelled all the time, and with loricariids, probably more frequently than they are correctly labelled.
Photos of the parents might be more reliable for ID.

Just wanted peoples opinion on the fry to see if they could tell me if it looked like a 202 fry.
Here are the parents
Thanks again

I'm not sure what the fish is, but a really good tip for catching the attention of people that may know, is to provide an informative title to the topic. People don't read every single thread!
Seeing as you had a pretty good idea of what they were already, a title like "Confirm L202 Peckoltia lineola ID" would be a much better than "ID please".

They look more like L015 than L202

The adults look just like my L015 Peckoltia vittata (Candy stripes) they have not got the orange colouring of the L288. L202 Peckoltia lineola are more of a black/yellow colouration with blotchier patterns on the face. The photos are dark brown/biege L015.
Either way the fry are gorgeous
If you wanted to sell the fry just say to the buyers they are Peckoltia sp. to be sure!
I am so jealous you have L397 fry. Congratulations

I agree, they are probably not L202,
, which is characterized by lines/spots/squiggles on the front of the head.

Thanks all.
I think looking at it all now, the parents were sold to me as 202's but infact they might be L015.
Cheers all will post more pics when i get them.
