Generally speaking 2 is a tricky number - one can easily bully the other. However I can't say anything about this species

If it were my tank, I'd provide them with shelter - at least 2 hiding places for 2 fishes. Obviously, you will want to be able to check the fishes'helath, but a hiding place will reduce much stress and therefore increase their resilience.

The solution? Hiding places which are easily checked. For instance a flat stone to a sidewall, or 3 stones on the floor carrying a fourth one

this is a great fish(i like em better than a tig) being a little less active than a lot of other big pims and developing real character

even in a quarantine tank that white gravel will contribute to them not being totally happy in fact that tank is a little too "bright" IMHO

I have no experience with multiple Jurs' in one tank, but, if I am not mistaken, RedTailRob wrote that until bigger size, like 7"-8", there should be peace between Jurs, Tigs, etc., provided there is good space.

MsHill, I hope these will thrive but I'd heed Bas and Richard. Maybe changing the substrate is messy but reducing the amount of light is easy, which should also alleviate to some extent the negative effect of a too-light-colored substrate.

If I am not mistaken again, you are experienced and know how big a tank they will eventually need at 2' of their own length. They love rapid water!

Well, I did not plan on getting anything yesterday- We went to Baltimore to see the Aquarium for my b-day, and then we stopped at Exotic Aquatics which was close by.

A guy on another fish forum (MFK) stated he bought one there Thursday- he said they didn't have anymore left; as that's what the store told him.

So we went, and they happened to have 2... I got 1 for myself, and I asked my friend if we wanted me to pick up the other one for him.. So that's why I have 2. The smallest of the 2 will be leaving in about 2 weeks if not sooner.

As far as substrate and hiding places- they were in a tank that had bright blue substrate and all sides were open and exposed to light- They had no hiding places either.

The tank that I placed them in, in the picture its so bright because all the tank lights are on, including the overhead light, which is only because we were down there.

I used a post office box to cover the tank for the day, and I added some cut in half Pvc so that they have places to hide. Neither of them care about the hiding places, they just wanna swim in the current or chill on top of the sponge filter and watch what we are doing outside of the tank.

I am going to drop in some blood worms to see if they will eat later on tonight.

IMO, they already seem much easier to care for than a tig. ^:)^

As far as a tank setup for the future goes.. I am thinking he would do fine in my 240 with some rays- buttttt, I am sure that I'll eventually go bigger than that as well. I've got a 400 gallon fiberglass tank with a window- but this guy is too pretty to not be on display in a tank.

I've got his next upgrade which will be a 125- then 150- then 180- then the 240.

I've got all these tanks filled at the moments, but he's gonna take a bit to grow, so I have time to get everyone where they need to be.

Ill post more pics tonight!
