I bought a catfish today labeled as and I'm just wanting to make sure it's really that species. I don't have a picture of mine at the moment, as he dove for cover the second he had a chance. It does however look similar to the auction pictures of this Wild Bumblebee from the seller Wetspotcx on Aquabid as I got it from their physical location.

Thanks. Also suggestions on tank? I have a 26 gallon and a 38 gallon he could go into, both planted and capped with sand. The 26 is a betta sorority tank and the 38 is a slow going community tank. Still waiting for my banjos to get in. If these tanks don't work I do have a 55 gallon I can set up, or depending on how it falls I'll be buying a 60 gallon within the year. Just depends on how big my Cherux destructor gets.

Without a photo, I wouldn't want to try... You may need to get the fish out into a small tank for photo purposes. However, assuming you can see that it is "syno type fish", then I suspect we could determine the genus at least by looking at the tail-fin. Synodontis has a forked tail-fin where the upper and lower lobes extend beyond the middle of the fin. Microsynodontis have a "spade" tail, with the lobes rounded. I'm sure there are half a dozen other characters to tell them apart, but this, as far as I know, is the most obvious.

The Microsynodontis that seems to be imported and thusly ID on PC the most in the last few years is the undecribed .
Looks to be the same fish in the auction picture.
