Slightyly off topic but has any one a sound reason for tail filerments?

I don't think it's been studied but it may be a secondary sex trait to attract the opposite sex. Or it may distract predators and let young fish get away alive while the predator eats the tail filament. Any other ideas? This is a good question!

No, he hasn't. They have not been nipped at by anyone. That jurupari is a really lazy fellow as they go and doesn't even play with the gravel that much.
