my question is, is C. orcesi a valid species or still considered as a synonym of C. pastazensis? according to fishbase, C. pastazensis is the valid name for this species. but i see no similarity between the former subspecies C. p. pastazensis and C. p. orcesi.

Hi,
Nijssen and/or Isbrücker synonymized
Corydoras pastazensis orcesi with
Corydoras pastazensis (I think in DATZ in one of the last years), due to the anyways great variability of
Corydoras pastazensis.
C96 is sometimes misidentified as
Corydoras pastazensis pastazensis (For example in SeuÃ?'s book), but has nothing to do with that species but is related to
C. armatus.

Firstly ther are no longer any sub-species within Corydoradinae. C. orcesi is a valid species, as is C. pastazensis.

Hi,
sorry to dig out this thread from the forums depths, but i totally forgot about that manner until now.
C. orcesi is a valid species, as is C. pastazensis.
Ian, I got a copy of the Cory list made by Isbrücker for your book in 2001, and there he lists
C. orcesi/C. pastazensis orcesi as a synonym of
C. pastazensis.
Has there been a recent revalidisation i am not aware of?

Both HGE and myself consider C. orcesi and C. pastazensis to be species in their own rights. I will ask Isaac for his views.
