I find simplicity is best.

sand substrate, air powered sponge filter (or air provided to a p/head running a sponge filter or hang outside type filter, a clump of java moss & some reasonably energetic water movement at part of the surface.

edit - have you checked all the info in the breeding section in Shane's world? It should provide you with plenty to go with :D

World reknowned cory experts - Fuller & Evers both say that gravel is unnatural & corys live on sand in the natural habitat - maybe silt with a little leaf litter for some. They feed by sand sifting so gravel is not really appropriate: a fine round grain sand is what is needed - kids playsand or pool filter sand will work but only 5-10mm depth is needed

Corys don't breed in caves. So keeping them in a tank with a few plants, a few rocks that form fairly open caves for hiding under will be fine.

Bear in mind also that your tank is about 17 liters, so not very large - I'd say that you shouldn't keep more than 3-4 corys in that tank.

The general guidelines for breeding corys is to keep 2 males for each female.

If they are in good shape and mature, males will be smaller and thinner and females fatter and larger.

What you might do is with the sand substrate put in a couple plants and a rock structure, just for veiwing and only have the cory's for the fish.

hi there,
best is to feed them with wormlike live food...less moaquito larvae..but worms...like
Tubifex tubifex...the females should prudoce much more eggs than with any other food...a friend told me.

keep them in normal middle hars water during 2-3 weeks then make waterchanges 50% 1st day 80% 2nd day...best it during a weatherchange outside...droping into low preasure...
