Now I'll have no excuse for not going... If you can travel from NZ, surely I can make it from England.

As of now we have three from the Singapore contingent.
We were the furthest now its NZ!

It was a pity Janne couldn't make the first one but I look forward to listening to his work at the source.
It's critical now that we're clear what's going to happen in the Amazonas basin.
Imagine all the land south of the great Amazon river cleared for farms and cities with 60 dams dotted along the tributaries...

So join up! :D

yeah, thats an error, thanks for reporting it. I've fixed it. But for the whole Website needs just some weeks. But the first parts will be published in some days (i hope at the end of next week).

We publish a little post, when the Site is really online.

Hi Guys,
after a long and hard time we are nearly ready. The website of the 2nd International L-Number-Days is just gone online. We are still not quite finished, but it fits so far.

The address is http://www.l-number-days.eu or http://2011.l-number-days.eu.

It still lacks the translations into French, and a few things, but the site is currently in a state that we can present to you.
Basically, the schedule of talks for the 2nd International L-Numbers-Days is complete, but some details still need to be clarified.

If anyone should find errors, I would appreciate an email (andreas.tanke@l-wels-tage.de).

Registration for the event has to be approved at the beginning of the new year.

Cheers Andi

Does anyone have any advice on the cheapest way to fly from the U.S. to Germany? About the Cheapest I have found is $980 round trip. When you add the wife it is almost $2,000 just in travel. :-O

I had a quick look around - you can save about $75 dollars per person by going from Chicago instead of Indianapolis - I also looked at Detroit, but that's more than Chicago. I had a quick look at an earlier date. Prices are about $750-800 per person in April and May, and about $650 [but it's a stopover in Toronto - if flying more directly, it's back to about $800 pp) for February 3rd to 11th. (These prices are Chicago to Hanover).

I suspect it's well worth waiting a bit to order your trip...

Someone else may have some other ideas that work better. But I know airlines like 6-12 weeks notice the best - more advance bookings cost more, and short notice is also more expensive.

No, that's not right. In think, in English there are:
Henrique Anatole: "The IBAMA and its work in Brazil – about the problems to protect nature" or "The future of the ornamental fish trade in brazil"
Janne Ekstrøm: "Foolish or a dream? A breeding project of rare species in Brazil"

German talks but also translated.
("We will again translate all German talks into English simultaneously and the English ones into German, such that all participants can follow all talks." Look here)

Dear L-Numbers friends,
a little bit later than planned, but now it's finished.

The Registration for the 2. International L-Number-Days is opened.

Unfortunately we have some bad news for our french speaking prospects, the planned translating of the webpage is canceled, so that we can offer the pages only in German and English, but we hope that participants in other languages are able to manage with these two languages, since the talks only in German and English are held.

Within the next two or three weeks we have planned an additional payment system (paypal). So you can register, but please wait to pay for the convention until we send the registered member a mail with the paypal data.
The members who lives in the EU, can better pay for the convention via banktransfer with IBAN and BIC.

OK, let's go

Cheers Andi

New Mainspeaker: Dr. Christian Cramer

Dear participants and those interested in the L-Numbers Days,

we sincerely hoped that we could finally present Janne Ekstrøm as speaker at this year´s L-Numbers Days, since he already had to turn us down last time for job-related reasons. For a long time, the prospects were very promising, but regrettably he again had to cancel his presence, because the status of his breeding project in Brazil currently does not allow his absence.
Thus, we again had to look for an alternative.

Fortunately however, we can present here an adequate substitution. We managed to win the German-Brazilian Ichthyologist Dr. Christian Cramer from the University of Porto Velho in Brazil as speaker, who most of you probably already know from his activities in pleco related forums. Christian wrote his PhD-thesis on relationships within the Loricariidae and currently also works with ancistrine loricariids, such as the genus Panaqolus. Additionally, he is currently pursuing collection trips in different Brazilian river systems searching, among others, also for L-plecos, so he will have a lot to present to us. We are looking forward to his attendance and his two talks, the topics of which will be published on our website in due course.

Sincerly Yours

Andreas Tanke and Ingo Seidel

Hallo,

As far as we are very satisfied with the number of registrations.
Meanwhile, the registrations and the payments diverge.
In this context I would like to point out that the early bird rate is of course only if registration and payment are received in early-bird-time.

Please book the room at the hotel in early-bird-time
During the early booking phase is a block of rooms blocked for us. For bookings from the quota are special conditions: further information on accommodation.

Greetings
Elko

Hi Guys,
i'm wondering that just such a little number of people from this forum has booked a package for the l-number-days. Have you forgotten the date of ending of the early-bird-phase, or don't you know if you have time to visit us in Hanover?

In the moment we have more than 90 bookings, and everyday the number is growing.
An actual view you can see here: http://2011.l-wels-tage.de/en/conventio ... ticipants/

Don't forget: from the 1st of august the early-bird has ends and the convention package costs the normal 135.00 Euro instead of 111.00 Euro during the early bird.

If you have no one that shares a room with you, we have arranged a room-sharing (http://2011.l-wels-tage.de/en/convention/room-sharing/), so that everyone can book a half of a double bed room for 40.00 Euro, instead of 65.00 Euro per night for a single room.

Cheers Andi

In all probability I will go - travel plans are difficult that far in advance - but I hope to get booked this week.

If only ......
I need to add some more zeros....... But I don't have kids %-( , so this trip is "all about me"

I am quite excited to see Johannes Leuenberger on the list of speakers and his interest in Baryancistrus, as I hope he may be able to give me some pointers towards getting my LDA33 to spawn.
