Hello, I posted previously about my albino cory laying about 50 eggs around 2 weeks ago. I followed this forums sticky instructions to a tee, and nothing hatched.
about a week later, (today) she just layed about 20 more eggs, and more could be on the way. If someone would be so kind on how to set up a proper incubater that has worked for you, and what I need to hatch these guys and gals, it would be much appreciated. I am new to eggs and fry, and knew this was the place to come. Thanks in advance,
I had a little plastic container, an airstone, a drop of pimafix, and did a 50 % water change evey day.

Congratulations, I'm not expert on cories but here is what I do.

I simply use a plastic shoebox with an 12" or so bendable air wand things and bend it in a circle. I know people who just use an airstone. Then I put the eggs, or whatever the eggs are attached to in the center of the circle making sure nothing is getting hit by direct bubbles and add methlyblue. Do water changes daily as you said but I used water from the adult tank to fill it back up and then add more methylblue. Once the egg sacks are gone I use the powder leftover in the bottom of pellet containers and microworms. If I notice an egg going bad I remove it right away.

At what stage did you loose your last batch?

You can get a culture of microworms fairly inexpensively off of http://www.aquabid.com and just search for microworms

I just put mine in a plastic container of tank water, I try to get them somewhat separated, but if they are stuck together i just keep them together. I put a lid on the container and then check it every day for fungus.

I put a few drops of h2o2 in there the first few days. No water changes.

That's about it. I might consider rigging up an airstone, I used to do this but I haven't noticed much of a difference in hatch rate.

Minimizing light seems to help keep the fungus down.


I sectioned off the tank once and just let the eggs hatch out naturally where they were, and they seemed to fungus like crazy and I had a near 0 hatch rate.

Finally, If the male isn't doing his job then there's nothing you can do to make them hatch.

Oh also, another thing that seems to help, is to get some floating plants, like anacharis. They will lay eggs on them, and it makes retrieving the eggs much easier, as you can clip the plant with the eggs attached as needed.

There are a couple of possibilities as to why your Albinos eggs did not hatch, but first a couple of questions; How many fish are in your group? what ratios, males to females are there? and did you witness the spawning activity.
