Hello I have just got a new tank which I want to use it as a breeding tank after the fishless cycle has finished.
I have a male and female BN in my Rio180 and I would like and have a go at trying to breed them
How do I start them to spawn?
The breeding tank is a 60x30x30cm 54L (12gallons Uk 14 gallons Us)is that big enough?
My tap water ph is 7.6 Would that be Ok for breeding?
What will I need in the tank other than a cave? (Would a coconut shell be ok for a cave? If notwhat do you think?)
What other things should I know before I try to start breeding?
Thanks for any help you can give me.

Get good water quality, and definately a good waterflow in your tank. Mine are first time parents as of this week. (at least the female, the male I bought 5 months ago was a father in the tank of the previous owner.) Their cave is directly below the internal pump. It suck the water out of the cave, and into the pump. A nice and constant flow.
I did change 20% of the water the weekend before the spawning. Spawning was 3 days later. The wigglers were born a week after that. My tank was running for 5 months before this spawn. Filled with a lot of small fish.

How do I start them to spawn?
Unusual topic
Most people want them to STOP spawning
I've just sold a trio of normal browns and a pair of albino's because they wouldnt stop spawning. I recently sold 200 juvs and have several hundred left, as soon as they are big enough they are to be sold.
Do a search on this site and you will find many posts about spawning bn's

they are like rabbits.
Good size tank, good water flow, frequent large water changes, good diet, appropriate furniture and tankmates (if any) and bobs your uncle.
Breeding dynamos. Will deplete your local grocer of zuchinni also.

Post of the week!
nice one PeterUK
(sorry it's off topic)
In reality they will easily breed in that tank as long as the water is decent quality, they have good food & the fish are mature enough. It doesn't take much more to get them going.
