"Violet Bruno Pleco"
My LFS got some of these in, they claim they are VERY rare and only have a price tag of $30 and they claim they only get to 4.5 inches.
Can anyone tell me more info on these? I cant believe any bruno pleco stays 4 inches!

I think there are a few different "bruno" plecos, but they all reach at the very least 8-10 inches.

Well, that is impossible to say without a picture. Several Hypostomus Species are sold as bruno, I'd assume that this is a or , that is slightly darker than usual. Which wouldn't make it all that "special". But over here at least that price would be OK.
All of those grow considerably larger than 4".

Hahahaha...
I know a local fish store manager that was very fond of labelling tanks of fish "rare" and "very rare".. I asked him how "rare" they could be if he had 50 of them! David

Re: "Violet Bruno Pleco"
Yes, Sunfish has it right. Bruno Pleco was the pre l-number name and pre description name given to any Cochliodon type with red fins. "fish lore" has it that Bruno was the name of one of the local guys that was involved in initially collecting this fish, however it's been imported since at least the 1980's. Unusual if not rare, $30 isn't a bad price. They get bigger (like double) 4.5".
